"THE DEBIT SCAM" 

There has been a rash of deceptive promotions within the industry. Sales people promising processing rates of 1.25% - 1.39%. The merchants think that this is for credit card processing, when in fact it is for debit processing. The merchants sign-up and when the first statement arrives the shock sets in, and many times they signed an expensive lease thinking that they would save all this money. Currently the processors pay a combined rate of  1.68% including all fees and assessments from Visa / MasterCard.
